Today was very different than anything before. Fast riding on gravel roads for a while, followed by windy and sandy roads through the brush, with wide views of the desert and the mountains far away.
Made it to Christmas Valley … a huge open valley with a lot of agriculture. Not the prettiest place. We got some gas and some chicken enchiladas verdes with chip and salsa at the only real restaurant in town. The owner was from Honduras ?!? Great story on how he got there.
This marked the end of my BDR adventure as I needed to start heading back to Portland for my flight back to Dallas. Jason kept going to catch up with Chuck and Valerie and to finish the last section.
Rode on pavement to Bend and stay at the same hotel. Great shower, afternoon cappuccino, and dinner by the river. A great way to end an amazing adventure.
Ahhh! Nature at its best in the early morning - coming down the mountain where we camped last night
Found the “Crack in the Ground” monument in the desert - a long fissure in the middle of nowhere - not wide enough for motorcycles : )
Which way?
The high-desert of southeast Oregon
